The retail sector of India has evolved to embrace malls and this has given rise to a ‘mall culture’. One of the reasons that malls are preferred by the public over the iconic markets in India is because they offer much more than just shopping. 1. Lulu International Shopping Mall – Kochi
Lulu International Shopping Mall, the biggest mall in India, is not your typical South Indian shopping mall. Located in the city of Kochi, Kerala, it has five floors and is home to some of the biggest brands in not just the nation but the world. It has 3 restaurants in addition to a food court along with outlets of biggest fast-food restaurant chains such as Burger King, McDonald’s and KFC. In terms of entertainment, there are a plethora of arcade games, rides, a party hall, bowling alley, 5D cinema, and nine screens of PVR Cinemas Multiplex. It also has many other facilities such as ATMs of multiple Indian banks and a few foreign exchange counters as well. Getting to the mall is also hassle free as it has a direct walkway to the Edapally Metro Station.
2. World Trade Park – Jaipur
The second biggest shopping mall in India is the World Trade Park. Located on JLN Marg in Malivya Nagar of the Pink City, the total gross leasable area of the mall is 2.4 million sq ft. The design of the mall is futuristic and it won the Mall of the year award in 2012. It has eleven floors and a parking capacity of 1100 cars. There are a number of high-end brands in the mall, such as Nakshtra, Rado Switzerland, Tag Heuer, and Junarose among others.
3. DLF Mall of India – Noida
Located in Sector 18, Noida, the DLF Mall of India is the third largest shopping mall in the country. It is also one of the most popular shopping malls in Delhi. The mall has seven floors divided into five zones; with each zone dedicated to a particular category, for example, ‘Family World’ is the third zone. Thus, the mall provides easy access and convenience to the shoppers. Operational since February 2016, the mall houses over a hundred fashion brands and more than 50 dining outlets. The mall also houses some of the finest restaurants in Delhi such as Chili’s Grill & Bar, Big Chill and Mamagoto. Additionally, the seating capacity of the food court is of 1000 people. A special feature of the mall is that it is a LEED Gold certified mall which means it is highly energy efficient.
4. Phoenix Market City – Bangalore
The largest mall in Bangalore is also the fourth largest mall in India. The gross leasable area of the mall is 1.4 million sq ft. It is located on Whitefield Main Road and is home to nine screen PVR Cinemas. The mall has more than 250 stores and a food court. As you all might have experienced, parking in malls is a huge hassle, but the Phoenix Marketcity has a parking for up to 1700 cars.
5. Elante Mall – Chandigarh
Elante Mall, Chandigarh is one of the biggest malls in India. Operational since April 2013; the mall has become the go-to-place for shopping lovers in Chandigarh. It houses some of the best international brands such as Vero Moda, Forever New, Promod, Da Milano, and United Colors of Benetton among others. For entertainment, there is a section called Funcity, a leisure junction by Landmark Group. Shoppers can relax and have fun by engaging in any of the activities such as Nail Art, Balloon Sculpture, Puppet Show, and Caricature among others.
